Foundational Sewing – (for advancing beginners)
FOUNDATIONAL SEWING (For advancing beginners)
This course is for experienced beginners who have conquered the basic techniques of sewing—confident in your ability to make a simple project with little to no supervision and is now ready to advance those core skills.
If you have completed our Introduction to Sewing for beginners sessions 1 and 2, or have been sewing for a while and can sew straight and curved seams, keep a consistent seam allowance; thread your own machine, wind a bobbin and trouble shoot machine issues; and have completed several simple projects (pillow, skirt, pjs), then this class is for you.
In this study, students are introduced to more complex and advanced techniques relevant to garment construction; sewing patterns—reading, cutting and marking, types of seams, garment fullness, sleeves and zippers, closures, edge finishing and embellishments.
Course Schedule: Mondays (10:30 AM – 12:00 PM)
Course Duration: October 30 – December 4 (6 Weeks Course)
Course Fee: $90 ($15.00 per class)
(includes a $15 materials fee for use of UTA supplies)
Sewing Machine Rental Fee: $10 per class (or bring your own machine)
NOTE: Youth under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

REFUNDS & WITHDRAWAL POLICY – UTA does not grant refunds or credits for student absences. One makeup date will be presented each session for purposes of finishing a project. This session will serve as a make-up class for illness or a cancelled session due to inclement weather.
CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY – Participant/parent will be notified via email if a class cancellation is necessary. Efforts will be made to make-up weather-related cancelled classes, but are not guaranteed. Refunds will not be offered due to a participant’s inability to partake in missed make-up session. If the instructor is ill for a class and a substitute is not available, a make-up class will be scheduled as soon as possible.
