Designed for homeschool youth ages 8+ —This course is for participants with marginal experience. A continuation of Session 1, participations further their learning of the basic elements of sewing, fabric options, pattern reading/instructions, fabric cutting and marking, and the essential components of piecing together fabrics to construct a simple project such as a pillow, skirt with elastic waist, pajama pants, etc. The pace of this course is entry-level.

By the end of this course, students who have applied this study should be able to demonstrate their mastery of the subject by identifying and summarizing sewing machine functions, describing the use of patterns layout/adjustments, and produce a completed project of their choice and explain the steps from start to the finished product.

Course Schedule: Thursdays (10:30 AM – 11:45 AM)

Course Duration: April 27 – June 1

Course Fee: $60 Per ($10.00 per class)

Sewing Machine Rental Fee: $10 per class (Option: bring your own machine)

Youth under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

REFUNDS & WITHDRAWAL POLICY – UTA does not grant refunds or credits for student absences. One makeup date will be presented each session for purposes of finishing a project. This session will serve as a make-up class for illness or a cancelled session due to inclement weather.

CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY – Participant/parent will be notified via email if a class cancellation is necessary. Efforts will be made to make-up weather-related cancelled classes, but are not guaranteed. Refunds will not be offered due to a participant’s inability to partake in missed make-up session. If the instructor is ill for a class and a substitute is not available, a make-up class will be scheduled as soon as possible.
