GET UP AND GOAL
Youth Health and Wellness
Because the COVID infection is most prevalent among people of color, the obese, and individuals with weakened immune systems, the lack of physical activity increases the risk for obesity, contraction, and complications among youth. With this in mind, we launched our health and wellness response initiative to help school-age children increase physical activity and improve mental health stability during the pandemic.
The programs below are designed to help foster awareness and present an enjoyable experience to help youth combat these issues:
• Health and Wellness Magazine for Youth – free, hardcopy magazine consisting of healthy, nutritional facts, at-home exercise options, and goal setting and leadership education to foster awareness and improve esteem and mental health.
• Wellness backpacks – filled with educational materials including goal-setting books and exercising equipment for youth who are medically obese, and youth populations that are at greater risk of contracting the COVID-19 virus.
• UTA online videos – focusing on health and nutrition, fitness, goal setting, and leadership to aid in at-home workout and wellness activities. These videos are available on our website and social media platforms.
