Upward Thrive 365 Radio Station Powered by youth, enjoyed by everyone!
UTA is launching Upward Thrive 365, a youth-driven online radio station that blends creativity, literacy, media arts, and community storytelling. The station provides hands-on learning in broadcasting, audio production, digital storytelling, and public communication.

Students learn how to develop radio segments, conduct interviews, write scripts, record voiceovers, and produce original content for real audiences. The station also promotes youth leadership by giving young creators the opportunity to plan programming, host shows, and collaborate with peers across UTA’s theatre, journalism, and wellness programs.

Upward Thrive 365 officially launched on December 23 with a special 24/7 Christmas Story Marathon that aired through January 2. Through this broadcast, our Journalism & Media Club and Actin’ Up Theatre Troupe presented more than 75 Christmas and winter-themed stories, featuring over 55 local community narrators ranging from youth to older adults. Through their voices, these contributors helped preserve and share intergenerational storytelling traditions while strengthening community connection.

Participating narrators included NBC News anchors and staff, a State Delegate, representatives from our local health department and the Maryland Food Bank, and other community leaders, youth, and parents. The broadcast featured cherished public domain classics alongside modern, heartwarming stories that reflect contemporary community voices and experiences.

As the station continues to grow, Upward Thrive 365 plans to expand into year-round youth-led programming, community leader interviews, health and wellness features, and educational storytelling segments designed to preserve community narratives and promote positive civic engagement throughout Southern Maryland and beyond. Broadcasts are aired via www.UpwardThriveinc.com/radio
